A truck driven by Alakbar Hasanov clipped a trailer truck, lost control, and hit a metal barrier, according to APA. Hasanov, born in 1970, and his passenger Fariz Qarayev, born in 1973, both died at the scene. Both were residents of Mugangancali village in Sabirabad district.
The Alat-Astara road is one of Azerbaijan's busiest southern arteries, carrying heavy freight toward the Iranian border. Single-vehicle barrier crashes like this one keep appearing in the country's road toll.
