Firefighters were called to the Nizami district site on Davud Aslan street overnight, where plastic and timber stored on the grounds of the closed plant caught fire. About 500 square metres of the 1,800 square metres of stored material burned, according to Oxu.
While filming, APA TV reporter Sanan Bahramli was attacked by a man presenting himself as the site's guard, later identified as Heydar Sardarov. Police say Sardarov injured the reporter, damaged APA TV equipment, and obstructed his work.
