By day, Alexander Adam teaches welding to college students in Taraz, Kazakhstan. By night, he does stand-up comedy.
Adam, a teacher for eight years, has spent the last four combining the classroom with the stage, according to Kazinform. It started with a random visit to a local comedy show. Soon he was performing himself.
It is a small story, but a telling one about Kazakhstan's regions: the comedy scene is no longer just an Almaty and Astana thing, and the people on stage increasingly have day jobs far from show business.
