Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov has announced pay and pension rises for the country's police and security personnel, effective December 1.
Base salaries for security personnel rise by 10,000 soms, under a decree reported by 24.kg, while service allowances are revised at the same time. New recruits with no service record will take home at least 4,000 soms more a month, and those with enough service for pension compensation will gain more than 10,000 soms in total pay.
Pensions for former security staff will also rise, by up to 10,000 soms.
The announcement came on Police Day. It is also a recruitment move: Kyrgyzstan, like its neighbours, is competing to keep uniformed staff as private-sector wages rise.
