The council said cases of journalists being attacked, facing physical violence and being blocked from doing their jobs in recent days are a serious concern, and that unlawful interference with journalists' work is unacceptable under Article 6 of the country's Media Law.
The statement follows the attack on an APA Group journalist covering a fire at a disused meat plant in Baku's Nizami district on November 1, a case in which a criminal investigation has already been opened. The council said it hopes the incidents are investigated promptly, fully and objectively.
