Germany's Gen Z protests over living costs, education and compulsory military service turned violent in Frankfurt.
Demonstrations held across the country were mostly peaceful, but in Frankfurt protesters looted shops and threw Molotov cocktails, and police answered with water cannon. More than 200 people were arrested across Germany in connection with the protests, according to Anadolu Agency.
The unrest shows how a youth movement that began around everyday pressures, rent, study costs and conscription, can spill into street confrontation when a local flashpoint ignites.
