Almost 85 percent of Tashkent residents complain that public transport is overcrowded at rush hour, according to a survey discussed by the city's council of people's deputies.
The October 2026 survey by the Center for Analysis of Democratic Processes polled about 3,000 people on social media. About 60.5 percent said they use public transport daily, and 52 percent said they had noticed changes in the transport system over the past two years.
The numbers tell a simple story: Tashkent's buses and metro are carrying more people than ever, and the crowding at peak hours is now the system's most visible problem.
