NEW: More than 2 million people from Central Asia entered Russia for work in the first half of 2026, according to Russian Interior Ministry data cited by TASS. Uzbekistan led with 1,178,609 entries, followed by Tajikistan with 494,518, Kyrgyzstan with 289,061 and Kazakhstan with 122,654.
The figures show how deeply Central Asia's labor market still depends on Russia, even as the region builds new trade routes elsewhere.
