Bulgaria's incumbent president Iliana Yotova has won the presidential runoff, unofficial results show, taking 57.4% of the vote against Andrey Gyurov's 39.6%.
Yotova and her running mate Kiril Valchev declared victory in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, after the second round. The first round had put Yotova at 34.76% and Gyurov at 31.95%, so the runoff widened her lead sharply.
The win keeps in office a president who has opposed sending military aid to Ukraine and argued for dialogue with Moscow, a stance that sets Bulgaria apart from several of its EU allies. Official results are still to be confirmed.
