Serbia's election commission has confirmed the final results of the October 25 parliamentary election, and the student-backed list has won outright.
After counting all 8,392 polling stations plus repeat voting at 53 stations where results could not be established, the Student List took 53.01% of the vote. Former president Aleksandar Vucic's United Serbia coalition took 38.98%, and Ivica Dacic's list took 2.13%.
The result gives the Student List an absolute majority of about 140 of the 250 seats in Serbia's National Assembly, ending 14 years of dominance by Vucic's Serbian Progressive Party. Vucic stepped down as president in late September to lead his coalition's list, and a new presidential vote is due by the end of December.
The movement behind the win grew out of nearly two years of anti-corruption protests that began after a railway station canopy collapsed in Novi Sad in November 2024, killing 16 people. What started as a protest over that disaster is now the government-in-waiting, and its first test will be turning street demands for accountability into running a state.
