A tanker was hit by two projectiles in the Gulf, crew safe
A tanker travelling southeast through the Arabian Gulf was struck by two unidentified projectiles on its port side late on November 1, about 72 nautical miles east of Ras Al Khafji in Saudi Arabia, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency.
All crew members are accounted for and no environmental damage has been reported. The vessel has not been publicly named, and no one has claimed the attack or been identified as behind it.
The strike is separate from the two tankers that Iran's Revolutionary Guard said hit mines in the Strait of Hormuz, and separate from the Qatar LNG carrier hit earlier in the weekend. It extends the danger zone from the Strait itself into the northern Gulf, which is why shipping firms and insurers are now pricing risk across a wider stretch of water.
