Kazakhstan to finish 10 long-delayed water projects
Kazakhstan's Water Resources and Irrigation Ministry is restarting water projects begun between 2010 and 2020 that were never finished. Ten projects are on the list: canals, waterworks, a reservoir and intake facilities across five regions.
Work has already resumed on two sites in the Almaty and Turkestan regions. The rest are in preparation.
Water is Kazakhstan's quiet constraint: a dry, farming-heavy country where irrigation canals and reservoirs decide harvests. Finishing decade-old projects is less glamorous than opening a new plant, but it is the kind of work that shows up in crop yields.
