Lionel Messi's late winner lifts Inter Miami into second in the East
Lionel Messi scored in the 83rd minute to complete a comeback as Inter Miami beat the New England Revolution 2-1 in Massachusetts on Sunday night.
New England led through Daniel Gazdag in the 53rd minute. German Berterame equalized in the 69th after a headed touch from Messi, and Messi settled it himself, weaving past defenders before finishing low into the far corner. It was his league-leading 26th goal of the season.
The win lifts Miami to second in the Eastern Conference with 59 points and secures a place in the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup. A late New England equalizer was ruled out for offside after video review.
