Armenia has started work on the TRIPP corridor, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan says

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan says his government has effectively begun implementing the TRIPP project, the transit corridor through Armenia that would link mainland Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave. Design work for the railway, road and power lines is starting now, he said, without waiting for the joint company meant to run the corridor to be set up.

TRIPP, short for the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, was agreed as part of the United States-brokered peace framework between Armenia and Azerbaijan in August 2025. For Azerbaijan it would restore a direct land link to Nakhchivan, cut off since the early 1990s. For Armenia it would bring transit revenue and new infrastructure, but also a sensitive debate about who controls movement on its own soil.

Pashinyan's message is that Yerevan is not waiting for the paperwork to catch up. "We do not want to waste time," he said, in comments carried by APA. Starting design work now puts the corridor on a practical track, and it gives Baku and Washington something concrete to point to as the peace process moves from declarations to construction.

What to watch is whether the company, the security arrangements and the financing follow as fast as the design work, because a corridor announced is not yet a corridor built.
