Trial opens in Azerbaijan over 200,000 manat in alleged bribes by tax officials
The trial of three Azerbaijani State Tax Service officials accused of taking 200,000 manat in bribes from businesses has begun, APA reports. Eldeniz Ahmadov, Rustam Mirzayev and Kenan Mammadov are accused of taking money in exchange for not carrying out tax inspections and not imposing fines.
The case, now before the court, is one of the more concrete anti-corruption trials in Azerbaijan this year: named officials, a named sum, and a simple alleged deal, inspections and fines traded for cash.
