Zelensky offers a deal: a month of Patriot missiles for a month without refinery strikes
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has offered a trade: give Ukraine one month's supply of Patriot air defence missiles, and Kyiv will halt strikes on Russian oil refineries for a month. Speaking in an interview, he said the money to buy the missiles exists, and only agreement to supply them is missing.
"If you want us not to attack Russian oil refineries for a month, give us Patriot missiles for a month," Zelensky said, in comments carried by APA. He added that "Trump cannot help Putin", a pointed message to Washington as Ukraine's air defences face another winter of Russian strikes on energy infrastructure.
The offer reframes Ukraine's refinery campaign as a bargaining chip rather than a fixed strategy. It also puts the ball in the court of Ukraine's partners: air defence missiles, not money, are the scarce resource.
