Musk says running Grok costs more than it earns
Elon Musk has said the cost of running Grok, the artificial intelligence chatbot built by his company xAI, is unsustainably high compared with the revenue it brings in, Anadolu Agency reports. Users have complained that they hit Grok's weekly limits much faster than before, and have asked for the limits to be reset.
The admission is a rare glimpse into the economics of the AI race. Chatbots are expensive to run at scale, and even the world's richest person is now saying publicly that the maths does not yet add up for Grok.
