Uzbekistan bans advertising texts and calls without prior consent
Companies and mobile operators in Uzbekistan may now send advertising text messages and make promotional calls only with users' prior consent, under rules that took effect on November 1, Kun.uz reports. Advertising calls and texts are also banned between 6 pm and 9 am.
For Uzbeks tired of spam calls at dinner, the change is practical relief. For businesses, it means consent lists are now the price of reaching customers by phone.
