Kyrgyzstan moves to ratify pension agreement with Uzbekistan
Kyrgyzstan's Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to conclude an agreement with Uzbekistan on state social insurance and pension provision, Kun.uz reports. The agreement provides for mutual recognition of insurance periods built up in both countries, and payment of pensions regardless of where the recipient lives.
For the many Kyrgyz and Uzbek citizens who have worked across the border, this is a practical fix to a real problem: years of work in one country counting for nothing in the other. Ratification would turn those years into pension rights.
