Kazakhstan's first freestyle wrestling world champion has had knee surgery.
Rizabek Aitmukhan went under the knife after injuring his knee at the world championships in Astana, Kazinform reports. He picked up the injury in his first bout, against two-time Olympic champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev, and withdrew from the tournament in pain.
Aitmukhan made history as Kazakhstan's first world freestyle champion. Now the question is how fast the knee lets him defend that status.
