Serbia's election commission has confirmed the final result: the student movement has won, and won big.
The Student List took 53.01 percent of the vote and around 140 of 250 parliament seats, an absolute majority, Kazinform reports, citing Serbia's election commission. Aleksandar Vucic's United Serbia list took 38.98 percent, ending years of dominance.
The movement was born in the protests after the Novi Sad station canopy collapse in November 2024 that killed 16 people. Students who started on the streets now hold parliament. What they do with it is the next question for the whole Balkans.
