Construction has suddenly started on the station square in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and residents want to know what is being built.
Work began on the square in the Mirabad district, where a monument to Tashkent in the shape of the city coat of arms once stood. Locals nicknamed it the "kopeyka". Before that, the site held a monument to 14 Turkestan commissars. The old pedestal still stands, long empty.
What exactly is planned, and whether the area will be landscaped, is not yet known.
