Kazakhstan has named the likely sites for its third nuclear power plant: East Kazakhstan region, around the city of Kurchatov, with West Kazakhstan also under consideration.
The head of the Atomic Energy Agency, Almasadam Satkaliev, told a parliamentary committee the sites were chosen from preliminary studies and both regions have the potential for nuclear projects.
Kazakhstan is already building its first nuclear plants after years of debate, and site selection for a third signals how far the programme is meant to go.
