A cyberattack scare has hit supermarket refrigeration systems across Europe, Anadolu Agency reported.

About 40 stores of a Belgian supermarket chain saw fridge and freezer temperatures suddenly jump to 15 degrees, and some shops had to throw away chilled and frozen goods because the cold chain broke. The company said stores in Luxembourg were also affected and its IT systems glitched.

Other supermarket chains in Belgium reported problems too, and chains in Estonia, the Netherlands, Ireland and Sweden reported cyberattacks on their refrigeration systems. A similar attack in France on October 12 forced many stores to destroy fridge and freezer goods.
