Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel's heart stopped during a match in Spain's second division, after a collision with the opposing goalkeeper.
De Miguel lost consciousness after Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono's knee struck him in the chest during added time. He was carried off on a stretcher and stabilised in an ambulance, and the referee sent Owono off with a straight red card.
It is the kind of moment that stops a stadium cold: a routine challenge, a player down, and medics racing the clock. The club has not yet given a fuller update on his condition beyond his stabilisation.
