Qurban Bayramov, a leading researcher at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, died on the morning of November 2.
Bayramov authored and presented popular science and educational television programmes on literature, including "Literary Studies and Time" and "Literature" between 1982 and 1992, and wrote more than 500 scientific and popular works. He was a familiar voice explaining Azerbaijani literature to a television audience for a decade, at a time when TV was the country's main classroom.
His death closes a long career spent between the archive and the screen, making literature public, not just academic.
