BREAKING: Drones hit one of Russia's biggest oil refineries overnight, setting it ablaze.
The Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl, about 250 km northeast of Moscow and one of Russia's five largest refineries, was damaged in a large overnight drone attack, regional governor Mikhail Yevrayev said. He said air defences repelled 124 drones aimed at the plant, two refinery workers were hospitalised with shrapnel wounds, and emergency crews were fighting the fire. Debris also broke windows in nearby homes.
The plant processes around 15 million tonnes of crude a year and has been hit repeatedly in recent months, including a September strike that knocked out a major processing unit. Each hit tightens Russian fuel supply and keeps upward pressure on oil prices, which bounced back on Tuesday after Monday's steep fall.
