Tashkent plans a gastronomic street and a 65-metre flagpole on the site of the capital's former coat-of-arms monument.
The project covers Privokzalnaya Square in the Mirabad district, where the monument once stood. District officials said open public hearings on the plan take place on Tuesday, November 3. The idea turns a symbolic Soviet-era site into a food and leisure strip, a familiar pattern in Tashkent's fast-changing centre.
