Five countries, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, have agreed to align their QR payment systems.

The new arrangement will let citizens of the five states send each other fast money transfers, Oxu.Az reports. It is a small technical step with a big practical payoff: millions of Central Asians and Azerbaijanis work, study and trade across these borders, and moving money between them is still slower and costlier than it should be.
