Iran says it is still far from a deal with the United States, and that reopening the Strait of Hormuz comes only after its conditions are met, a senior Iranian official told Reuters.
Parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf put it more bluntly: Tehran has given its answer, and preventing war now depends on Washington. 'Our finger is on the trigger,' he said, warning that another American strategic mistake would meet a different war.
The message lands one week before US-mediated Ukraine-Russia talks in Abu Dhabi, and while American voters go to the polls. Tehran is signalling it will negotiate, but not under terms it calls excessive.
