Kazakhstan will build a national system to manage stocks of critical metals by the end of 2026, deputy prime minister Serik Zhumangarin says.

The plan, part of the national programme to carry out the president's address, also promises full transparency of geological data through a single subsoil platform in 2027, with exploration based on detailed digital geological maps.

Critical metals are the quiet prize of the energy transition, and Kazakhstan, rich in rare earths and battery metals, is moving to treat them as a strategic asset, not just an export.
