Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received QazaqGaz chief Alibek Zhamauov and heard that the Kashagan gas processing plant, built to handle 1 billion cubic metres a year, is due to open in the third quarter of 2027.
Work has also started on the second line of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent pipeline, and contractors are set for larger Kashagan and Karachaganak gas plants of 2.5 and 5 billion cubic metres a year.
Tokayev ordered stable gas supply through the heating season and the expansion of the commercial gas base, and heard plans to bring gas to the northern cities of Kokshetau and Petropavlovsk.
