Tashkent has switched on a 'green wave' traffic system on Kukcha Darvoza street, cutting journey times by 40 percent, the traffic management centre says.
Sixteen traffic lights over 7 kilometres now work as one system: drive at the speed limit and you hit green after green. The wave runs toward the centre in the morning and out of it in the evening.
Measured off-peak, the system saves about 8 minutes per trip, with fewer stops, less fuel and lower emissions. It is a small, practical win for a city whose traffic keeps growing.
