Uzbekistan will raise the price of liquefied gas for households from 2,000 to 5,000 soums per kilogram from November 15, a 2.5-fold increase set by the government.
Vulnerable families will get compensation of 3,000 soums per kilogram for up to 20 kilograms a month, capped at 60,000 soums, leaving their cost for 20 kilograms unchanged at 40,000 soums.
The government also approved a new subsidy mechanism for household gas supplies from the budget, and will prepare proposals by May 2027 for further liberalisation of regulated prices. For families who cook and heat with gas cylinders, November 15 is a date to plan around.
