Uzbekneftegaz says it was not handed the oil and gas fields or shares of Saneg after part of the company's licences were annulled, and it does not know who will run them next.
The licences were cancelled for failure to meet conditions and develop the fields, and the geology ministry is working on what happens to the sites. The number of affected plots has not been disclosed.
The background is contested: in 2019 Saneg, then Jizzakh Petroleum, received rights to more than 100 fields from Uzbekneftegaz, and the circumstances of that transfer became a criminal case.
