BREAKING: Iran's Revolutionary Guard navy says three oil tankers hit sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz and exploded, according to Azerbaijan's APA agency.

The Guard says the tankers had switched off their navigation and identification systems before the blasts. No tanker owner, flag state or independent monitor has confirmed the claim so far, and no vessel names or casualties have been published.

The claim lands in a week crowded with diplomacy: Americans are voting in midterm elections, and Russia, the United States and Ukraine meet in Abu Dhabi on November 10 and 11. About a fifth of the world's seaborne oil moves through the strait, so every mine claim, confirmed or not, pushes shipping insurance and oil prices within hours.

Treat this as the Guard's account until independent evidence appears.
