Police in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, have opened a check after a pregnant woman was refused admission at a maternity hospital in the early hours of November 2.
The woman called the 102 emergency line at about 3 a.m. saying staff at a capital maternity hospital refused to admit her, the Pervomaisky district police said. When officers arrived, she filed a written statement.
Police have registered the case and will give it a legal assessment after the check. For a pregnant woman seeking admission at 3 a.m., a refusal is not a bureaucratic failure, it is a medical emergency, which is why the case went straight to the police.
