NEW: More than 15 billion dollars flowed into Uzbekistan through international transfer systems in the first nine months of 2026, up 9 percent on the same period last year.
The figure, 15.2 billion dollars, comes from Kun.uz, with 1.95 billion dollars sent out of the country, leaving a surplus of 13.2 billion dollars. Transfers into Uzbekistan have tripled since 2020, and their share of the economy has risen from 8.6 percent to 12.8 percent of GDP.
That money is the quiet engine of Uzbek household spending: wages earned abroad paying for homes, weddings and small businesses at home.
