NEW: Mobile phones will count as POS terminals in Azerbaijan under a new draft law, allowing cashless and contactless payments through phones fitted with special software.
The change would let small sellers take card payments with a phone instead of a separate terminal, according to APA. For market traders, couriers and small shops, that removes a piece of hardware and a cost.
It is a small technical change with a large practical effect: the phone in every pocket becomes the till.
