NEW: The number of defendants in the case against the former leadership of Uzbekneftegaz has grown from 9 to 25, Gazeta.uz reports.
Among them is former first deputy tax committee chairman Mubin Mirzaev, sentenced in July in a separate case to 8 years and 2 months in prison, now charged with embezzlement and forgery in this case. The other defendants include former Uzbekneftegaz executives and oil and gas contractors, some linked to Saneg.
A case that triples in size is a case that is widening, not closing, and it now reaches from the state oil company into the tax service itself.
