A criminal case has been opened in Uzbekistan after 20 members of a Kazakh football delegation, including young players, fell ill in Tashkent during an international youth tournament, Uzbekistan's Health Ministry said.
The group was diagnosed with acute diarrhoea. Eighteen remain in hospital and two have been discharged, and Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry has confirmed the hospitalisations.
Why it matters: a youth tournament turned into a cross-border health incident, and the criminal case will decide whether food, water or hygiene failed a visiting team of children.
