Cyberattacks are hitting supermarket refrigeration across Europe, Anadolu Agency reported, with systems in Germany forced into heating mode, in one Bavarian store to 50 degrees, spoiling large amounts of food.
A butcher in Athens said his coolers were set to 150 degrees, and similar incidents were reported in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden, Ireland, the Netherlands, Finland and Estonia, targeting Wi-Fi-connected systems with remote maintenance.
Why it matters: the attack surface is no longer just banks and ministries, it is the cold chain that keeps food safe, and a hacked thermostat can empty a shelf faster than a blockade.
