Türkiye's presidency has debunked claims that the bust of Heydar Aliyev in Şişli, Istanbul will be removed and the park demolished to build a cultural centre.

The Presidency's Disinformation Combat Centre said the claims circulating on social media are baseless, and that Şişli Municipality has no such work or project on the agenda for the area.

The park in Istanbul's Şişli district honours Azerbaijan's former president Heydar Aliyev, and the rumour touched a nerve in both countries. The centre asked the public not to give credence to provocative disinformation aimed at two friendly and brotherly nations.

The bust stays, the park stays, and the rumour is officially dead.
