UPDATE: Spanish police have opened an investigation into the death of Tenerife footballer Jesús de Miguel, who died on Tuesday after his heart stopped during a match against Andorra on November 2.
The 30-year-old collided with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during the second-division game and was rushed to hospital, where he died a day later. A court will now examine the injury on the pitch and his treatment in hospital.
Owono could separately face an 8 to 12 match ban over the collision, according to Spanish sports paper Diario AS. A freak collision, a young player's death, and now two parallel processes: a criminal investigation and a sporting one.
