Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Bukhara oil refinery, where a 328 million dollar modernisation will lift annual processing capacity to 5 million tonnes.
The project will also raise output of Euro-5 standard Ai-92 and Ai-95 petrol. Bukhara region is already launching 145 projects worth 7.8 billion dollars, and the refinery upgrade is the industrial anchor of that push.
Uzbekistan is betting that refining its own fuel, to cleaner standards, is worth more than exporting raw crude.
