Samarkand, Uzbekistan will host the first expert SCO Plus security dialogue on November 5 to 6.
The theme is security in the age of digital transformation: countering terrorism and extremism as new technologies change how both threats and defences work. Uzbekistan's State Security Service says 33 delegations from 24 countries and five international bodies are expected, including security chiefs from Shanghai Cooperation Organisation members, observers and partners.
Why it matters: Samarkand is becoming a regular address for regional security talks, not just summits. For a country sitting between Afghanistan, major trade corridors and fast-growing digital networks, hosting the conversation is itself a statement about the role Tashkent wants to play.
