Ten of the Kazakh youth footballers and adults hospitalised after a mass poisoning in Tashkent, Uzbekistan have now been discharged, Kazakhstan's health minister said.
Eighteen people in total, 12 children and six adults, were taken to hospital after breakfast at their hotel, according to Tashkent prosecutors, who have opened a criminal case. Thirteen members of the travelling party have already returned to Kazakhstan, and doctors say the rest could follow soon if their condition keeps improving.
Health inspectors are still working out exactly what caused the poisoning.
Why it matters: youth tournaments are a regular bridge between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and a hotel breakfast should be the safest part of the trip. Until the cause is named, every travelling team in the region will be asking harder questions about where it eats.
