Flags of the five Central Asian states, Azerbaijan and Jordan have appeared in central Astana, Kazakhstan, ahead of a run of international events on November 5 to 7.
Kazakhstan's State Protection Service had already warned of temporary restrictions linked to the events, and military aviation training flights are under way over the capital.
Why it matters: when Astana dresses its main avenues in a full set of regional flags, a summit season is coming, not a single meeting. The guest list, Central Asia plus Azerbaijan and Jordan, hints at talks that reach beyond the usual Central Asian table.
