The Bukhara oil refinery will be modernised for 328 million dollars, doubling its processing capacity from 2.5 million to 5 million tons a year and raising output of Euro-5 standard AI-92 and AI-95 petrol, with lower sulphur content.
The Tekhnochem petrochemical cluster will expand under a 420 million dollar programme running to 2028, lifting raw material processing from 260,000 to 660,000 tons a year. It aims to export 200 million dollars of output a year and replace 330 million dollars of imports.
Why it matters: Bukhara is being built into a fuel and chemicals hub at once, cleaner petrol for drivers and more local production instead of imports, with the jobs and export earnings that come with both.
