Uzbekistan's digital minister Sherzod Shermatov has called for urgent action to protect personal data from leaks, as artificial intelligence spreads fast, Gazeta.uz reports.
He did not confirm a reported leak of data on 27 million citizens, but warned there are no guarantees against such incidents. Every state, private and commercial organisation must keep finding and fixing weaknesses in its systems, he said, adding that demand for cybersecurity specialists will keep growing.
Why it matters: 27 million is close to Uzbekistan's whole population, so even an unconfirmed report shakes trust. The minister's message is to prepare now, not after a confirmed breach.
